Our history

The demand for computing power is constantly increasing worldwide. In recent years, this has already been reflected in increasing digitalization and the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI). Further developments are foreseeable in the areas of autonomous driving, gaming, even further digitization in the professional and private context and the associated ever-increasing demand for computing power. At the same time, the existing data centers with an average output of 30-50 MW already contribute around 4% to global CO2 emissions and thus exceed all private transport. Experts predict that this figure will at least double to 8% by 2030. 40% of the electricity required to cool data centers is attributed to the air conditioning sector.

Back in 2018, a simple but not easy idea in the data center sector turned into a viable concept, and Diggers was founded in 2019. The founders of Diggers combine numerous benefits in the areas of performance, security and greening through liquid-cooled server systems and decentralized data centers. The waste heat generated by the servers is converted into energy and is available for various heating or cooling processes. The management team around Martin Schechtner, Michael Fussi and Robert Unterweger, with many years of experience in the fields of electrical engineering, process engineering, cloud computing and construction, have set themselves the task of making the required data centers significantly more environmentally friendly.
